United States Border Patrol Agent Lonnie Swartz was found not guilty of the charge of Second Degree Murder in the cross border shooting of Mexican teen.  The jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision on lesser charges of voluntary or involuntary manslaughter.  Mr. Swartz and other agents were under attack by rock throwers who were attempting to aid smugglers escape into Mexico by climbing over the border fence.  Mr. Swartz' use of deadly force was justified in order to protect himself and his fellow agents.  A second trial on the lesser charges is scheduled to commence on October 23, 2018.
